What is the Helix CO2 Laser?

The Helix CO2 Laser is an advanced skin resurfacing solution that utilizes fractional laser technology powered by 70 watts of energy. Fractional lasers, such as the Helix, deliver laser energy in small, precise columns, allowing the skin to heal naturally and stimulate collagen production without significant damage to the surrounding tissue.

This makes the treatment faster, safer, and more effective than traditional CO2 lasers, which often leave patients with longer recovery times.

One of the most innovative features of the Helix CO2 Laser is its ability to combine ablative and non-ablative treatments in a single device. This flexibility allows for precise customization based on your specific skin concerns, type, and healing preferences. The Helix CO2 system offers three specialized treatments:

  • CoolPeel: A no-downtime fractional ablative treatment ideal for surface-level concerns.
  • Sultra: A gentle, fractional non-ablative treatment that stimulates collagen production with minimal downtime.
  • Fusion: A combination of ablative and non-ablative treatments for enhanced results and faster healing.

The Helix CO2 Laser combines 1570nm fiber laser with 10,600nm CO2 technology, creating a treatment that’s both highly effective and safe for all skin types. The integration of DEKA’s Pulse Shape Design (PSD™) ensures precise control over energy, duration, and pulse shapes, including the unique H-Pulse and Deka-Pulse modes. This allows for deep skin resurfacing without compromising safety or comfort.

1. Ablative Technology (CO2 Laser)

Ablative lasers, like the CO2 component of the Helix, work by removing thin layers of damaged skin. This process stimulates the body’s natural healing response, encouraging collagen and elastin production, which helps improve skin texture, tone, and elasticity.

2. Non-Ablative Technology (Sultra)

Non-ablative lasers, such as the Sultra mode, deliver energy to the dermis without damaging the surface layer of the skin. This stimulates collagen production and skin tightening without any peeling or significant downtime. The Sultra treatment is ideal for those looking to enhance their skin’s structure and tone with minimal recovery time.

3. Combination Treatments (Fusion)

By combining both ablative and non-ablative modalities in a Fusion treatment, Helix delivers faster healing with enhanced results. This hybrid approach allows for deep skin resurfacing and more superficial collagen stimulation, ensuring optimal results in less time.

The Pulse Shape Design (PSD™) technology ensures that all treatments can be finely tuned to meet the specific needs of each patient, creating a truly personalized treatment experience.

  • Fractional Ablative & Non-Ablative Technology: The Helix combines both technologies in one device, offering unmatched versatility and customization.
  • 70 Watts of Power: The Helix CO2 Laser is powered by 70 watts of energy, which provides excellent results for a wide range of skin types and conditions.
  • DEKA’s Pulse Shape Design (PSD™): This feature allows for fine-tuned control of energy and pulse shapes, optimizing the treatment process for better results.
  • Advanced Scanner Controls: The ergonomic handpiece allows for precise control over the treatment process, minimizing overlap and maximizing speed and efficiency.

Key Benefits of the Helix CO2 Laser

Step 1: Consultation and Skin Assessment

During your initial consultation, we will evaluate your skin type, discuss your goals, and determine the most appropriate treatment plan using the Helix CO2 Laser. We will explain each step of the procedure and answer any questions you have.

Step 2: Preparation

Before the treatment begins, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area to ensure your comfort. Depending on the intensity of the treatment, we may use additional anesthesia for more sensitive areas.

Step 3: Laser Treatment

The Helix CO2 Laser is applied to the treatment area, delivering fractional energy to the skin. The treatment may take anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the size and complexity of the area being treated.

Step 4: Post-Treatment Care

After the procedure, you may experience mild redness and swelling. These effects are temporary and should subside within a few days. You will be provided with detailed aftercare instructions, including advice on moisturizing, avoiding direct sun exposure, and using sunscreen.

Results of Helix CO2 Laser Treatment

Patients typically see improvements in skin texture, tone, and firmness after a single treatment. However, more severe conditions, such as deep wrinkles or scarring, may require additional sessions.

Results continue to improve over time as collagen production increases, leaving you with smoother, more youthful-looking skin.
