What are Neurotoxins?

These Neurotoxins are injected into specific facial muscles to temporarily relax them. This smooths out wrinkles, lines, and creases, particularly those caused by repetitive facial expressions. The treatment is commonly used to address forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines between the eyebrows.
How Do Neurotoxins Work?
Neurotoxins block nerve signals that cause muscles to contract, which relaxes and softens wrinkles and lines in the skin. Neurotoxins work by interfering with the normal functioning of nerve cells (neurons) and disrupting the communication between nerve cells and their target muscles.
What Can I Expect from Neurotoxins?
Here’s what you can expect from your neurotoxin treatment for wrinkles:
Step 1 – Before the treatment, you’ll have a consultation with your injector. During this consultation, you’ll discuss your goals, concerns, medical history, and any previous treatments you’ve had. Your injector will evaluate your facial structure, skin condition, and the specific wrinkles you want to address.
Step 2 – The actual treatment is relatively quick and usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated. Your injector will use a fine needle to inject the neurotoxin into specific facial muscles responsible for causing wrinkles. These injections temporarily block the nerve signals that trigger muscle contractions.
Step 3 – There is typically little to no downtime after the procedure. You can resume your daily activities immediately, although it’s recommended to avoid strenuous exercise and excessive sun exposure for the first 24 hours. It takes a few days for the neurotoxin to take effect, and you’ll start to notice a reduction in muscle movement in the treated areas. Over the course of 7 to 14 days, the wrinkles will gradually soften, and your skin will appear smoother.
Step 4 -The effects of neurotoxin treatment generally last around 3 to 4 months, though this can vary depending on factors such as individual metabolism, the type of neurotoxin used, and the dosage. As the effects wear off, muscle activity and wrinkles will gradually return.
Do Neurotoxins Hurt?
